WPV-CERT

Trained volunteer teams supporting emergency response across the Woodside Fire Protection District.

What is CERT?

WPV-CERT is the Community Emergency Response Team for the Woodside Fire Protection District. CERT members are local volunteers who have completed FEMA-based training in basic disaster response skills. When a major emergency occurs, CERT teams activate to support professional responders and help their communities.

CERT teams relay critical information to professional responders, assess neighborhood conditions, and handle situations within their training — such as basic medical aid, light search and rescue, and damage assessment — so that professional resources can be directed where they are needed most.

What CERT Members Learn

Disaster preparedness and response fundamentals
Fire safety and basic fire suppression
Disaster medical operations and triage
Light search and rescue techniques
Team organization and incident command
Household utility control (gas, water, electric)
Disaster psychology and team welfare
Damage assessment and reporting

How CERT Connects to WPV-Ready

WPV-Ready focuses on preparedness — helping every resident, family, and neighborhood be ready before disaster strikes. WPV-CERT focuses on response — what happens after disaster strikes. They are complementary programs that together cover the full cycle of emergency management for our district.
