- Create a written family emergency plan
- Pack a go-bag for each family member
- Prepare a go-bag for pets
- Know your two best evacuation routes
- Identify an out-of-area emergency contact
- Store at least 2 weeks of food and water
- Have a battery-powered or hand-crank radio
- Maintain a first aid kit and know basic first aid
- Keep fire extinguishers accessible and know how to use them
- Create defensible space around your home
- Secure heavy furniture and water heater for earthquakes
- Know how to shut off gas, water, and electricity
