WPV-Ready and our partner organizations offer a variety of classes to build your preparedness skills. Most are free or low-cost.
WPV-Ready Nodes Class
Learn how to establish neighborhood connection points (nodes) for sharing information and resources during disasters. Nodes are the foundation of the Ready Community network.
Format: Zoom, approximately 90 minutes
Fire Resiliency Workshop
Comprehensive workshop covering defensible space, home hardening, fire-resistant landscaping, and the Ready Set Go framework. Includes hands-on demonstrations and local resource information.
Format: In-person, half-day workshop
First Aid and CPR Certification
American Red Cross or equivalent certification course in adult/child/infant CPR, AED use, and first aid. Essential skills for any emergency. Certification valid for two years.
Format: In-person, full-day course
CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)
FEMA-based training in disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Offered through WPV-CERT.
Format: Multi-session course (typically 20 hours total)
Emergency Preparedness Basics
Overview class covering the three basic steps: Stay Informed, Make a Plan, Get a Go-Bag. Great for those just starting out with preparedness. Frequently offered at community events and meetings.
Format: In-person or Zoom, approximately 1 hour
